UIB

The Systems, Robotics and Vision group (SRV) of UIB consists of mostly members of the faculty staff of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department of the University of the Balearic Islands. Currently, the group comprises a total of 21 members, including 9 faculty staff members (4 senior, 5 junior), 2 post-docs, 9 PhD students and 1 technician.

Relevant skills

Since its foundation in 1997, the SRV group has developed expertise in several areas related with mobile robotics, computer vision and pattern recognition/machine learning.
Finally, the SRV group is part of several research networks, such as the Spanish Committee of Automation (CEA), the Spanish Thematic Group of Robotics (CEA-GTROB), the Spanish Research Network on Marine Robotics AUTOMAR and has also been member of EURON and of euRobotics AISBL.

Role in the project and main tasks

Taking into account the expertise of the SRV group in robotic platform prototyping and in machine learning-based methods development, they will contribute with the development of an aerial platform capable of operating with different levels of autonomy within wide, open areas, as well as with pattern recognition/machine learning inspection data processing methods oriented towards defect detection, localization and visualization. The SRV team will also help
in technical tasks at other packages.
