The first session of tests at the Genova University Testing Facility was performed on 19-20 June 2019.
The Testing Facility has been built in the UNIGE laboratories, with the aim of reconstructing a trial environment as realistic as possible to test RAS abilities in performing ship surveys.
This allows carrying out fitness for purpose tests when on-board trials cannot be performed because of the little time the ship usually stops at berths.
Three different RAS were operated, namely two drones and one crawler.
The RAS involved in the project could be tested in controlled environment conditions, providing important feedback for both improving the RAS performances, and for further development of the testing facility and the testing protocols.
